NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Victor Gomez's two-out, bases-loaded single capped a three-run rally in the bottom of the eighth inning, lifting Marshall to a 5-3 win today over Southern Mississippi.
It was the third victory in two days for Marshall, which eliminated host Tulane on Saturday morning and then beat Southern Miss Saturday night.
Marshall reliever Dan Straily pitched the final two innings for the victory and did not allow a base runner.
Collin Cargill suffered his first loss of the season. He entered the game in the fifth and was charged with two runs -- one earned -- in 3 1-3 innings. He allowed two hits and walked three.
