CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) -- Ryan Jackson and Dennis Raben each homered as Miami beat Mississippi 11-2 to win the NCAA Coral Gables Regional today (Sunday).
Eric Erickson (8-1) pitched seven strong innings for Miami. He allowed two runs and six hits and struck out five.
Miami (50-8) will advance to the Super Regionals and will await the winner of the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional.
The Hurricanes are now 46-4 at home during postseason play under coach Jim Morris.
The Regional Championship is the 25th in school history and gives the No. 1-ranked Miami its first 50-win season since 2004.
Miami jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning. Mississippi (39-26) pulled to within 3-2 on a two-run homer by Cody Overbeck, but Raben's two-run home run in the third gave Miami a 6-2 lead.
Raben, Jemile Weeks and Jason Hagerty each drove in two runs for the Hurricanes.
Losing pitcher Nathan Baker (3-6) allowed six runs, five earned, in 2 1/3 innings.
