BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) -- Carl Edwards has claimed the pole for NASCAR's Sharpie 500 Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway. Edwards earned his first pole of the season after winning the Sprint Cup race at Michigan last weekend.
David Reutimann qualified second, followed by Jeff Gordon and Regan Smith.
Edwards goes into the race trailing only points leader Kyle Busch in the Cup standings. Busch has a 222-point lead and will start the Bristol race ninth.
