AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- Auburn freshman receiver Philip Pierre-Louis will miss the season with a torn knee ligament.
Coach Tommy Tuberville said the promising player will have surgery this week. He was hurt while returning the opening kickoff in Saturday night's win over Louisiana-Monroe.
Quarterback Kodi Burns is expected to miss Monday's practice after a 7-inch gash was opened on his shin by a facemask in the third quarter, but will play Saturday against Southern Mississippi. Tuberville said Burns had no swelling on the leg at all Sunday.
Starting receiver James Swinton hurt his knee on the second play and didn't return but shouldn't miss a game. Montez Billings missed the opener with a hamstring injury and is a little behind Swinton.
