New Orleans Saints running back Deuce McAllister teamed up with Feed The Children to provide 400 families with boxes of food and personal care items on Tuesday at the Houma Terrebonne Civic Center.
Feed The Children identified all of the families who received a 25-pound box of food and a box of personal care items, such as toothpaste or soap, to help those recovering from Hurricane Gustav.
McAllister says he didn't see much Gustav coverage because the Saints were in Indianapolis all week. But he says when he returned and saw what the storm did, he was shocked. Then, he contacted the relief organization and asked them if they could send a truck of supplies to Houma to help out.
The Saints drafted McAllister in 2001 and he has recorded four 1,000 yard rushing seasons. McAllister leads the Saints in almost every team rushing category, including yards (5,678), attempts (1,322), touchdowns (44), 1,000-yard seasons (four), and 100-yard games (27).
