Florida offensive coordinator Dan Mullen will be the new football coach at Mississippi State, a person close to the program told The Associated Press.
The source, who asked not be identified because he was not authorized to talk about the hire, said Wednesday that Mullen was expected to arrive in Starkville by private plane during the afternoon and will likely be introduced on Thursday.
The Clarion-Ledger of Jackson and the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal are also reporting the hire.
A spokesman said Mississippi State has nothing to announce in its search for Sylvester Croom's replacement.
Mullen has been an assistant coach for forteen years and spent the last eight with Florida coach Urban Meyer at Bowling Green, Utah and Florida.
