The Saints saved their best for last in Week 17 of the NFL season. Down 30-10 in the fourth quarter against first place Carolina, Drew Brees threw three touchdown passes and led New Orleans all the way back to take a one point lead. With his third fourth quarter touchdown, Brees also pulled to within 16 yards of Dan Marino's all time single season passing yards record, but Carolina managed to melt away the clock on a game winning drive that ended in a John Casey field goal, and New Orleans' season came to an end as the Saints lost 33-31. The Saints finish the season with an 8-8 record.
