For the first time in over a decade, a team from outside Jackson has won the Jackson Public Schools holiday tournament, and that team is Meridian High. The Wildcats beat Provine, the team that beat them earlier this month, 61-49 to capture the championship.

Meridian began the tournament with a win over Bailey on Friday night, the Cats then beat Lanier Saturday and Wingfield Monday to earn the right to play at Jackson State in the title game Tuesday night.

The Cats will be back in action January 9th when they head to Oak Grove.
