STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) -- Phil Turner scored 16 points and Ravern Johnson added 14 to lead Mississippi State to an 82-65 victory over Houston on Saturday.
Mississippi State (9-5) shot 46.5 percent from the field (30 of 65) and hit 11-of-25 3-pointers.
The Bulldogs held Houston (8-3) to 27 percent shooting (21-of-76).
Turner finished 6 of 7 from the field, including 3 of 4 from behind the arc, while Johnson had three assists.
Romero Osby added 13 points for the Bulldogs and Dee Bost chipped in nine points, eight assists and six rebounds.
MSU started the game on an 11-2 run and led 42-31 at the half.
The Cougars missed 15 of their first 16 shots in the second half and never threatened.
