GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Sha Brooks scored 31 points to lead No. 18 Florida to an 80-66 win over Mississippi State in the Southeastern Conference opener for both teams on Thursday night.
Brooks, Florida's leading scored with 13.4 points per game coming into the contest, also had six rebounds and six assists for the Gators (15-1, 1-0). Marshae Dotson added 17 points and Sharielle Smith chipped in with 11.
Tysheka Grimes scored 19 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs (12-3, 0-1), Chanel Mokango had 17 and Armelia Lumanu added 14. Alexis Rack, Mississippi State's leading scorer coming into the game (14.2), was limited to eight points on 3-for-12 shooting from the field.
The win extended Florida's program-record winning streak to 15 games since being upset in an 88-86 season-opening loss at Florida Gulf Coast on Nov. 14.
