Signing Day at East Central

East Central Community College welcomed new members of its softball and baseball squads for 2009-10 during a scholarship signing ceremony Thursday on the Decatur campus.

Parents and coaches of signees were also in attendance for the special program held in the Gold Room of Mabry Memorial Cafeteria.

Joining the Lady Diamond Warriors for next season are catcher/outfielder Summer Alexander and pitcher/shortstop Kasie Buckley, both of Newton County High School; catcher/outfielder Abbie Joiner and second baseman/shortstop Lauren Nicholas, both of Neshoba Central High School; and outfielder/pitcher Stacey Pogue, who attends Leake Academy, announced Scott Hill, who is in his sixth season as ECCC head softball coach. Kristin Chaney is serving her first year as an assistant.

New Diamond Warriors are pitcher Colton Mitchell of Lake High School, catcher Tyler Cox of Forest High School, middle infielder Charles Hill, pitcher/outfielder Pervis Mann and pitcher/infielder Richie Long, all of Carthage High School; outfielder/pitcher Donnie Tabb and pitcher Joel McKee, both of Neshoba Central High School; pitcher Cole Harris and center fielder Tyler Robinson, both of Newton County High School; and pitcher/short stop Tyler Dalton of Winston Academy, announced Neal Holliman, now in his third season as ECCC head baseball coach. Assistants are Michael Avalon, Roberto Martinez and Drew Smith.
