HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) -- Southern Miss guard Courtney Beasley has been named Conference USA's player of the week.
Beasley averaged 27 points and seven rebounds in two games last week. He set a season high with 24 points in an 84-79 win over Marshall, then topped it with a career-high 30 points in an 87-75 loss to UTEP.
The Huntsville, Ala., native also had 10 rebounds against the Miners, making him the first Golden Eagles player with 30 points and 10 rebounds in a game since 2003. The senior has scored at least 18 points in seven of his last nine games and is averaging 19.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
