Mississippi forward Murphy Holloway has been named the Southeastern Conference's freshman of the week.
The 6-foot-7 forward from Irmo, S.C., picked up two double-doubles in wins over Tennessee and Georgia. That extended his streak to three straight, a run that coincides with Ole Miss' rise in the SEC West standings.
Holloway had a career-high 18 points and 13 rebounds as he helped the Rebels dominate Tennessee in an 81-65 victory. He then had 12 points and 10 rebounds in an easy 69-47 win over Georgia. That gave him an average of 15 points and 11.5 rebounds per game last week.
Holloway recently took over the starting role at power forward and is averaging 8.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this season.
Alabama's Alonzo Gee is the SEC's player of the week.
