HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) -- Southern Miss football player Damion Fletcher has entered a not guilty plea to discharging a firearm.
The 21-year-old Fletcher, of Biloxi, did not show for his court appearance on Tuesday but his attorney entered the plea on his behalf in Hattiesburg Municipal Court.
City prosecutor Richard Davis said a trial date has not been set for Fletcher, who is USM's all-time leading rusher.
Fletcher was arrested last week after Hattiesburg Police said he fired at least one gunshot while at an apartment complex.
Another football player, Brennan Houston, was booked on a marijuana possession charge, stemming from the same incident. Both charges are misdemeanors.
