HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) -- Southern Miss football fans will get a rare chance to see a BCS conference school play in Hattiesburg next season.
Virginia highlights a home schedule that will include six Saturday games for the second straight season. The Golden Eagles, coming off a 7-6 campaign that extended the teams 15-year winning streak, also play at BCS schools Kansas on Sept. 26 and Louisville on Oct. 10.
Southern Miss kicks off the season with a home game against Alcorn State on Sept. 5. After opening the Conference USA season with Central Florida the next week, the Cavaliers come to town.
The Golden Eagles last hosted a BCS school in 2006 when they played rude host to North Carolina State in a 37-17 victory.
Second-year coach Larry Fedora calls the schedule "challenging."
