LIVINGSTON, Ala. -- Super Tiger Day began two years ago as a chance for alumni and fans of the University of West Alabama to return to the Livingston campus in the spring and enjoy a day of athletic events and activities. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2009 and will offer the same kind of enjoyment for Tiger fans.
Super Tiger Day 2009 will begin with the annual spring football game at 10:00 a.m. at Tiger Stadium. Head Coach Bobby Wallace and his staff look build on a competitive 4-7 campaign in 2008, which included several tight fourth quarter contests and a thrilling 17-14 televised home win over Southern Arkansas in double overtime.
The UWA National Alumni Association and the Athletic Department will provide refreshments in the Football Tiger Room before and during the game for the enjoyment of all alumni and friends in attendance.
Later in the day the UWA softball team will host a doubleheader against in-state foe North Alabama with the first pitch slated for 3:00 p.m. at the UWA Softball Complex. Second year Head Coach Will Atkinson currently has the program off to the best start in school history at 18-2 as they approach conference play. The day will conclude with a baseball twinbill, as Head Coach Gary Rundles and the Baseball Tigers host Gulf South Conference East Division foe Valdosta State, and eye their sixth consecutive trip to the GSC Tournament and third NCAA trip in four seasons. First pitch at Tartt Field is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., and the UWA National Alumni Association will also host a cookout at that time on their deck behind the right field wall.
