EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- Brett Favre is reportedly happy being retired. Vikings coach Brad Childress remained at team headquarters Thursday despite reports he was to travel to Mississippi. Yahoo! Sports reports that Favre called Childress sometime Wednesday or early Thursday and told the coach he wants to stay retired.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) -- Southern Mississippi has promoted assistant Scott Berry to head baseball coach, replacing Corky Palmer. Berry has been Palmer's top assistant for the last nine seasons. Palmer, who has guided the Golden Eagles to six straight NCAA regional appearances, says he'll retire at the end of the season.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The New Orleans Hornets are sticking with head coach Byron Scott for at least one more season. Team president Hugh Weber says the franchise was disappointed by its first-round exit, but says the entire organization shares responsibility.
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- LSU men's basketball coach Trent Johnson has dismissed freshman forward Delwan Graham from the team. Johnson says he is not renewing Graham's scholarship for next season because of a violation of team rules. Graham played in 25 games last season.
