The man who portrayed the long-time Jackson State University mascot known as "Wavy Dave," has died at a Jackson hospital.
A university news release said 41-year-old David Chambers had spent the past several weeks in the critical care unit at Central Mississippi Medical Center after suffering a heart attack brought on by his long-time battle with kidney failure. Chambers received a kidney transplant in June 2000.
Chambers wowed fans and thrilled children for more than 20 years at football and basketball games as the Tiger mascot.
