MERIDIAN --- On Saturday triathletes from across the Southeast will descend on Meridian for the 23rd annual Sunfish Triathlon. For the second straight year the event will be held at Bonita Lakes, and race organizers are expecting around 350 participants at this year's event.
Race director Lora Blackledge says the race is a sprint triathlon, and it will include a 1/3 mile swim, 17 mile bike ride, and a 5K run. She says the shortened distance will help attract newcomers to the race.
The race will begin at 7AM Saturday at Bonita Lakes.
