STARKVILLE - First-year head football coach Dan Mullen was so looking forward to his team's first fall practice, he scheduled a pair of them. The Bulldogs had split-squad workouts on Monday, with the freshman hitting the field first.

Mullen led the team's freshmen through a controlled practice in the early hours of Monday morning. The young pups were the first group of Football Bowl Subdivision players in the nation to begin practicing football for the 2009 season.

Later in the day, as temperatures rose considerably, so did the intensity as the veteran members of the squad took the field for an afternoon workout.
