HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) -- Coach Larry Fedora says Southern Miss wide receiver DeAndre Brown will play Saturday against Central Florida.
The 6-foot-6 sophomore sat out last week's 52-0 win against Alcorn State still recovering from a broken leg he suffered last year in the New Orleans Bowl. Fedora says he could see about 25 plays against UCF.
Brown set the single-season school records for catches and touchdowns as a freshman and should add another dimension going against the Knights' stingy defense.
He was cleared for contact last week but was held out because Fedora didn't see a need to rush him back after he began to experience soft-tissue swelling near the break in July.
