Jackson State faces the toughest draw of all with top-seed Florida, the defending national champions, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Tigers, led by guard Trey Johnson, the nation's second-leading scorer, are making their first appearance in the tournament since 2000.

The state's two SEC schools were bumped from the NCAA field, but drew interesting first-round games in the NIT.

Mississippi State earned a Number One seed in the 32-team tournament and will host Mississippi Valley State in the first round.

The Delta Devils earned a bid when they won the Southwestern Athletic Conference's regular-season title but fell to Jackson State in the tournament championship game.

The North Region game will mark the first time the two teams have played since 2001.

Mississippi State won the two schools' only matchup.

South Region fourth-seed Ole Miss will play fifth-seed Appalachian State in the first round.

The Mountaineers won the Southern Conference's North Division.

They were a potential NCAA draw with victories over Vanderbilt and Virginia, but fell in their tournament semifinals.

Southern Miss was left out of the NIT field despite winning 20 games this season.
