Mississippi State lost a heart-breaker to West Virginia Tuesday night in the semifinals of the N.I.T. Tournament at New York's Madison Square Garden. The Bulldogs led by as many as 14 points in the second half but the Mountaineers rallied and won 63-62 on a shot at the buzzer.
Meanwhile, Ole Miss ran into a buzz-saw in the NCAA Women's Elite Eight. The Lady Rebels were overwhelmed by top-seeded Tennessee 98 to 62. Ole Miss has made six appearances in the national quarterfinals but has never advanced to the Final Four.
