Three local businesses are partnering to raise money for cancer patients.
The Anderson Regional Cancer Center, the Community Foundation of East Mississippi, and WTOK-TV are partnering for John Johnson's Run for Cancer. John is WTOK's news director.
For the third year in a row, John is competing in the Rocket City Marathon in Huntsville, Ala. The marathon is Saturday, Dec. 12, to benefit the Cancer Patient Benevolence Fund. It assists cancer patients in meeting needs that are not covered by insurance.
Johnson said he's happy to take be a part of a good cause.
"Many of you have been so good in your giving to this fund. We hope that you will continue to do so. We hope to grow it this year," said Johnson. "We'll have some indication as to how you will be able to do that. This has been a pleasure for me. It's been hard work, but it's hard work for those who suffer from cancer and we're glad to be able to help them and make things for them."
Cancer patients will receive assistance for their unique needs such as transportation and medication with these funds.

I was watching the news and seen what you are doing for the cancer patients. Mr. Johnson, I wanted to let you know this is a very brave element you are doing for cancer. I recently lost my dad to cancer in August. Dr. Reece Jones was his doctor. Dr. Jones and his staff were all very kind to my dad through his ordeal... My dad looked highly to Dr. Jones and his staff in helping him through his last few months. I would love to donate to this organization for a cure for this heartless disease. Not only the patients hurt through this disease but so do the loveones during and left behind. I will keep this address and donate to this organization....
