West Lauderdale baseball standout Luke Walker will continue his career at East Central Community College. He inked with the Warriors on Thursday.
Walker will be moving from the outfield to the infield next season. The left fielder will be making the transition to 2nd base at ECCC.
East Central head coach Neal Holliman says the left-handed bat will add variety to the Warrior lineup. He says that having played for Jerry Boatner's Knights will help Walker when he arrives in Decatur.
"Being that he comes from West Lauderdale, he knows how to work and win," Holliman said. "All those are great attributes that we're looking for at our program as well."
Entering Thursday's game, Walker was batting .416 and had the fewest strikeouts on Mississippi's top-ranked high school squad.
