The MCC Baseball team was forced to put everything on the line Thursday in the Region XXIII Tournament. One loss and the Eagles were done for the season.
MCC came out fighting in game one, beating Gulf Coast 4-1. Northwest defeated Itawamba in the 4:00 game to set up the final game of the night between MCC and the Indians, with the loser out of the tournament.
In the nightcap, the Eagles took an early 1-0 lead, but Itawamba answered in the bottom of the first with an RBI single by Davis Potter to tie the game. The next batter, Chance Prestage, sent a 3-run homer to right field to give the Indians a 4-1 advantage.
MCC didn't have enough as they fell by a final of 8-5.
The championship game of the Region XXIII Tournament is set for Friday at 2:00 at Scaggs Field. Northwest will face Itawamba, needing only one win to take the title.
