Lucky Keeton Wins Stormpay.com Feature Win at Whynot

Fast Qualifier for the Stormpay.com weekly crate late model division went to (22) Lucky Keeton in the wild and crazy 2 man cruisers feature race of the evening. (58) Nicky Ward and her partner took the win over 2nd place (H17) Ray Boney.

In the Mini Stock Feature, (02) Jenifer Shelton and (12jr) Bill Bunyard raced door to door on the first 2 laps before a caution came out for a spin in turn 3. Shelton had the lead by a fender on the previous lap. She would lead the restart on lap 2. While starting off with pressure from Bunyard on the restart, Shelton pulled away and cruised to an easy win followed by Bunyard, (69) Rick Long, (99) Brian Quinn and (44) Kyle Chaney.

In the heavy metal street stock feature, (111) Wayne Medders jumped out to grab the lead with (10) Kevin Reeves hot on his tail. (7x) Kyle Rutledge and (4) Ben Byram raced side by side for 3rd. Caution came out with 8 laps to go as (69) Jeffery Walkers left rear wheel had other plans in turn 2 when it departed from the racecar. On the restart, a wild battle for the lead took place with Medders, Rutledge, Bynam and Reeves using all the race track going 2 and 3 wide to try and take over the top spot. Medders would settle back into the lead with a wild battle for 2nd among Rutledge, Bynam and Reeves. The 3 racers continued to race 3 wide for 2nd with 5 laps left. As the 3 continued to dual it out with 1 lap left, they came 3 wide off turn 4 coming to the finish line and Medders edged Rutledge by less than a foot. Medders failed to pass tech inspection after the race, and was DQ'd for being illegal, giving the win to (7x) Kyle Rutledge.

In the UMP Modified Feature, (008) Greg Hollingsworth jumped into the lead and left a heated battle for 2nd as (10J) Jason Henry, (55H) David Holder, (3S) Steve Snow and (51) Tim Rutledge came 4 wide off turn 2 down the backstretch. As the cars settled into position, (55) Andy Pippin charged from 9th to 4th with 8 laps to go and then spun bringing out the caution. On the restart, Holder started applying heavy pressure to Hollingsworth for the lead with Henry right behind them. Holder kept the heat on Hollingsworth until about 4 to go when he jumped the cushion in turn 2 allowing (K1) Randy King to take over 2nd. Caution came out again with 3 to go for Snow as he lost an engine going into turn 1. On the restart, it was Hollingsworth out in front with Holder taking 2nd back from King. On the final lap, Henry and Rutledge would get by King dropping him back to 5th. At the finish it was (008) Greg Hollingsworth taking the win over (55H) David Holder. (10J) Jason Henry, (51R) Tim Rutledge, and (K1) Randy King rounded out the top 5.

In the Stormpay.com late model feature, (22) Lucky Keeton darted out into the lead, with (1t) Terry Mosley, (34) Brandon Keeton racing door to door for 2nd. Behind them, (4) Wiley Williams and (27) Larry Murphy battled side by side for 4th. (1t) Mosley got by Brandon Keeton along with (4) Williams with 18 to go. (1t) Mosley would reel in (22) Keeton with 17 to go. (27) Murphy and (44) Roger Rollison raced for 5th. (22) Keeton and (1t) Mosley started getting into lapped traffic. With 10 laps remaining, (22) Keeton turned on the afterburners and began to pull away from (1t) Mosley. The caution would come out with 8 laps to go for (28) Robby Harvey spinning in turn 3. After the restart with 6 laps to go, (1t) Mosley put heavy pressure on the leader pulling along side (22) Keeton coming off turn 4 and making contact coming down the frontstretch. (1t) Mosley would get loose and (22) Keeton would begin to pull away with 5 to go. Caution would come out again with 3 to go for (28) Harvey on another spin. On the restart, (22) Keeton kept the lead with (1t) Mosley in hot pursuit. A fierce battle for 3rd was taking place between (34) Keeton, (4) Williams, (9) Herman Reynolds and (44) Rolison. As the four raced hard going into turn 3, (44) Rolison and (4) Williams would spin bringing out another caution. On the restart, (1t) Mosley gets into (22) Keeton coming off turn 4 causing them to both spin on the frontstretch bringing out another caution. (1t) Mosley would have to restart on the rear. Keeton would pull away with (4) Williams and (27) Murphy battling for 2nd and (34) Keeton and (44) Rolison battling for 4th. At the finish, it was (22) Lucky Keeton over (4) Wiley Williams and (27) Larry Murphy. (9) Herman Reynolds edged (34) Brandon Keeton, who finished 5th.

Whynot Motorsports Park will be back in action next Saturday night, June 2nd, with a regular racing program scheduled for the "Action Track of The South."
