Mitch Moreland hit a rally-starting two-run home run within minutes of being taken in the Major League Baseball draft Friday and led Mississippi State to an 8-6 super regional win over Clemson.
The Bulldogs need one more win in the best-of-three series against the Tigers (41-22) to advance to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. The win came in front of a super regional record 12,620 and thousands more are expected for Saturday's game.
Moreland, taken 530th by the Texas Rangers, hit his sixth-inning homer off Clemson starter.
Moreland added an RBI double in the seventh inning and Connor Powers hit a two-run homer for the Bulldogs.
Moskos took the loss, giving up five earned runs and nine hits in five innings.
Reliever John Lalor picked up the win with three innings of two-hit relief and Aaron Weatherford earned his seventh save.
