Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson did not practice or participate in qualifying Friday for the Toyota Save Mart 350 after their cars failed inspection.
NASCAR officials said body modifications were made to the front fender of both cars. Gordon and Johnson will start from the back of the field on Sunday.
