Fanning to Enter Hall of Fame

The Mississippi Association of Coaches Hall of Fame class of 2007 is one of the most prestigious the hall has seen, which is one of the reasons Mack Fanning is so proud to be a part of it.

The Southeast Lauderdale softball coach will enter the Hall of Fame Friday in Jackson when this year's class is inducted.

He has coached six different sports during his nearly 38-year career.

Fanning's state championships include two slow-pitch titles and three fast-pitch championships with Newton County.

While he was at Hickory High School, he brought home two state baseball crowns and three conference championships in football.

Four other coaches will enter the Hall of Fame Friday with Fanning.

Basketball coach Norris Ashley is one of the honorees, along with Louisville native Van Chancellor, who played basketball at East Central, coached at Noxapater.

Football coach Jack French, who is also from Louisville, won three state championships with the Forest Bearcats.

Mike Justice will also enter the Hall this year. He won two state championships at Louisville during his seven years with the Wildcats.
