Former Meridian High and Alabama football star Kenny Smith has signed a free agent contract with the New England Patriots.
Smith was a third round draft pick back in 2001 by the New Orleans Saints.
After four years in New Orleans, Smith spent a year on injured reserve with Oakland before being signed and released by Tampa Bay earlier this year.
Smith was the Mississippi player of the year and Parade All-American as a senior at Meridian High.
He joins a team that's won three Super Bowls the past six seasons.
