Ponta Creek Makes Weekends More Civilian Friendly

Playing golf at the Naval Air Station Meridian is about to become much easier on the weekends.

Beginning Saturday, the base will open a road that leads you straight to Ponta Creek Golf Course. This will eliminate the hassle of stopping at the main gate to gain access to the base.

For the time being, the road will only be open on weekends. Officials expect the road to be open completely beginning in October.

Ponta Creek starts taking tee times for 7:00 a.m. on the weekends, so the gate will open at 6:30 a.m. This weekend only...If you play Saturday and bring your receipt back on Sunday you can play for $16 dollars, their normal twilight rate.
