Saints reserve defensive end Rob Ninkovich had to be carted off the field during Monday's practice at training camp in Jackson, Mississippi.
It wasn't immediately clear on how Ninkovich was hurt. He crumpled to the field during a running play and held his hand over his face as team officials helped him off the field.
But, on a positive note, he was able to walk into the locker room on his own steam.
Ninkovich missed almost all of last season with a knee injury which he had fully rehabilitated in time for this summer's training camp. Recently, he told reporters that he felt he was 100 percent and looked forward to playing this season.
Ninkovich was the Saints' fifth pick in the 2006 draft out of Purdue. He made the roster as a special teams regular, a backup long snapper and a reserve end who found playing time spelling both Charles Grant and Will Smith on both sides of the line.
