In Tuscaloosa, new Alabama head coach Nick Saban held his first summer practice Friday afternoon.
105 players have reported, most of whom are underclassmen. Saban said that he is excited to begin evaluating those younger players.
Alabama will practice again Saturday and will hold an open practice Sunday at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Saban also announced that four Tide players have been given medical hardships and will not play this season.
The biggest of those names is Tyrone Prothro, who broke his leg in a 2005 game against Florida. The latest development will likely end the collegiate career of the wide receiver, who has had several surgeries on his left leg.
