Teixeira Homers In 3rd Straight Game

Garrett Atkins hit a three-run homer and Jeff Francis pitched six solid innings as the Colorado Rockies pounded Atlanta 9-2.

Francis is 12-5 after giving up a run on six hits with no walks and seven strikeouts. The left-hander has won seven straight decisions.

Kaz Matsui went 3-for-5 and scored three runs for the Rockies.

Mark Teixeira hit his third homer in three games for Atlanta since being acquired in a trade from Texas.

John Smoltz dropped to 10-6, surrendering five earned runs on nine hits over six and two-thirds innings.
