Mississippi State will open their 2007 season in prime-time, taking on 2nd ranked LSU Thursday night at Scott Field.
The contest will be the first major college game of the year and will be televised nationally by ESPN.
MSU coach Sylvester Croom has insisted that his Bulldogs will be vastly improved this year. They'll have to be to compete with LSU, a team that has defeated the Bulldogs six straight times by an average score of 42 to 13.
Meanwhile, the UWA Tigers will open up their season Thursday night at Division One-Double-A Samford University in Birmingham. The Tiger posted their first winning season since 1992 last year under new coach Bobby Wallace.
