Carolina's Panthers had an easy time with the St. Louis Rams, winning 27-13. Panthers' receiver Steve Smith had a big day with seven receptions for 118 yards, including a 68-yard catch for the go-ahead score.
Panthers' quarterback Jake Delhomme hit his first seven passes and finished 18-for 27 for 201 yards and three scores. Drew Carter caught two of the touchdown passes.
The loss may have been costly to the Rams as All-Pro offensive lineman Orlando Pace suffered an injured shoulder late in the first half. He left the game and never returned.
