The Southeast Lauderdale girls basketball team hit the gym Wednesday afternoon just a few days after losing their first game of the season.

The Tigers fell to Gulfport High School Friday on the coast. It was a game they dominated from the opening whistle, jumping out to an 8-1 lead. However, the Tigers turned the ball over in the fourth quarter. Head Coach Joe Miller says his girls made mental mistakes in a game they could have won.

"We just didn't play as well as we should have. You know, we lead 31 out of 32 minutes, and got beat," Miller said. "We made an awful lot of mistakes, and, hopefully, we'll take those mistakes and work hard to correct them and have a good last half of the year."

Until further notice, Miller's Tigers will tackle the second half of the season without senior guard Denisha Knight. The Jackson State Softball signee has a fracture in her foot, and Miller says he doesn't know how long she'll be off the court. The Tigers are now 14-1 on the season.
