Video puts Rutgers coach under fire
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- Rutgers says it's reconsidering its decision to retain basketball coach Mike Rice after a videotape aired showing him shoving, grabbing and throwing balls at players in practice and using gay slurs. ESPN broadcast the video prompting scores of outraged social media comments as well as sharp criticism from Gov. Chris Christie and NBA star LeBron James.
Athletic director Tim Pernetti was given a copy of the video in late November by a former employee. He suspended Rice for three games a month later, fined him $50,000 and ordered him to attend anger management classes.
MLB-SCHEDULE
Three day games
UNDATED (AP) -- There are three afternoon games, all in the American League today. The Chicago White Sox host Kansas City, Texas plays at Houston and Detroit visits Minnesota. The rest of the A-L schedule under the lights has Boston at N.Y. Yankees, Cleveland at Toronto, Tampa Bay home to Baltimore and Seattle at Oakland. The Mariners are the only MLB club to win its first two games.
Over in the National League, Miami continues its series at Washington, the Cubs visit Pittsburgh while the Mets host San Diego. Rounding out the schedule: Philadelphia plays at Atlanta, Milwaukee hosts Colorado, St. Louis visits Arizona while the Dodgers and Giants continue their series in Los Angeles.
The lone interleague game has the Los Angeles Angels at Cincinnati.
NHL-SCHEDULE
Five games coming up
UNDATED (AP) -- One of five contests on the ice has Pittsburgh at the New York Rangers. The Penguins are looking to bounce back after having their 15-game winning streak snapped against Buffalo last night. Pittsburgh has dominated the season series over the Rangers, winning the first three games by a combined score of 12-3.
The other games have Montreal at Philadelphia, Calgary home to Edmonton, Dallas on the road at Anaheim and Minnesota at San Jose.
NBA-SCHEDULE
Knicks look to stay hot
UNDATED (AP) -- One of a dozen NBA games tonight has New York at Atlanta. Carmelo Anthony is coming off a 50-point game as the Knicks look for their tenth straight win. New York's magic number to capture its first Atlantic Division title since 1993-94 is five. The Hawks are in fifth place in the Eastern Conference, sitting one game behind Brooklyn in the race for home-court advantage in the first round of the post-season.
Another key game has Denver at Utah. The Jazz are in a battle with the Lakers and Dallas for the final playoff spot in the West.
The other games tonight have Brooklyn at Cleveland, Philly at Charlotte, Toronto home to Washington, Detroit at Boston, Minnesota at Milwaukee, Orlando at San Antonio, Memphis at Portland, Sacramento hosting Houston, New Orleans at Golden State and Phoenix at the L.A. Clippers.

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (AP) -- The LPGA's first major of the season is under way in Rancho Mirage, California. Sun Young Yoo is the defending champ at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- This week's PGA stop is the Texas Open in San Antonio. Ben Curtis is the defending champ. The men's first major golf event, The Masters, begins next week at Augusta National.
