says he hopes to meet with team chairman Clay Bennett and general
manager Sam Presti in "the next couple of days" to discuss a new
Brooks' current deal is set to expire at the end of the month.
The Thunder have improved each of the three seasons Brooks has
been at the head of their bench. They followed a first-round
playoff loss with an appearance in the Western Conference finals
last season and are coming off a five-game loss to Miami in this
year's NBA Finals.
Stuart happy to be home
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- The NHL's Sharks have agreed to terms on
a three-year contract with newly acquired defenseman Brad Stuart,
who could have become a free agent.
San Jose acquired his rights earlier this month from Detroit for
pending free agent Andrew Murray and a conditional seventh-round
draft pick in 2014.
Stuart had made clear that he wanted to be closer to his family,
which still lives in San Jose. He had had six goals and 15 assists
in 81 games last season for the Red Wings.
Duchene gets new deal
DENVER (AP) -- The Colorado Avalanche have locked up one of their
promising young forwards for the next two years.
Matt Duchene (DOO'-shayn) was limited to 58 games last season by
knee and ankle injuries, managing 14 goals and 14 assists.
Duchene was drafted third overall in 2009. He made the All-Star
team in 2010-11 and became the youngest player in franchise history
to lead the squad in scoring.

Vettel back on pole in Spain
VALENCIA, Spain (AP) -- Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel had the
fastest car in Formula One qualifying and will start from the pole
at the European Grand Prix for the third straight year.
The two-time defending Formula One champion has won the race the
past two seasons.
McLaren's Lewis Hamilton will be on the outside of row one.
