STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) -- Considering Josh Boyd stands about 6-foot-3 and 300 pounds, it's hard to believe he would fade into the background.
But Mississippi State's defensive line has been so good the past few seasons, Boyd hasn't been noticed very often.
That's about to change.
Boyd is now the centerpiece of Mississippi State's defensive line -- and arguably the entire defense -- as the Bulldogs prepare to face Jackson State on Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium.
The senior was productive last season, with 51 tackles, including 8 1/2 tackles for a loss and four sacks. But he was often overlooked because of Fletcher Cox, a fellow defensive lineman who put up even bigger numbers and is now with the Philadelphia Eagles after being taken in the first round of the NFL draft.
