ATLANTA (AP) -- Chipper Jones is missing his second straight
start because of swelling in his left knee but says he can
pinch-hit for the Braves against Milwaukee on Saturday night.
The third baseman is taking pregame batting and fielding
practice. He had the surgically repaired knee drained before the
Braves' home opener on Friday night and says there was still some
swelling a day later. He says he hopes to start on Sunday.
Jones missed the first four games of the season after having
arthroscopic surgery on the knee during spring training. He homered
in his first game back on Tuesday night in Houston but had swelling
in the knee after the team flight back to Atlanta.
Jones says he is "on the brink" of being ready to play
full-time.
