The Cleveland Browns traded former Alabama running back Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts for a first-round pick in next year's NFL draft.
Richardson has struggled with injuries since being selected third overall in the 2013 draft. USU Today reports that Browns owner Joe Banner claims the trade had nothing to do with Richardson's abilities, saying instead it was an opportunity they couldn't pass up.
Richardson ran for 950 yards and 11 touchdowns as a rookie in 2012.
The Browns plan to bring in running back Willis McGahee for a physical.
