Chick-fil-A Bowl To Scout Bulldogs/Tigers

Chick-fil-A Bowl representative Frank Stiteler will visit Tiger Stadium on Saturday for the Mississippi State – LSU game. The two teams are being scouted as potential SEC representatives in the 2012 Chick-fil-A Bowl on Dec. 31.

Stiteler, sporting the Chick-fil-A Bowl’s signature navy blue blazer, will be available to the media before the game and in the press box during the game.

The ACC and SEC team selections for the 45th annual Chick-fil-A Bowl will be announced on Sunday, Dec. 2. The Chick-fil-A Bowl is the oldest guaranteed ACC vs. SEC match-up in the bowl business.

Mississippi State and the Chick-fil-A Bowl

Mississippi State (7-2, 3-2) has made three appearances in the Chick-fil-A Bowl, most recently in 1999, defeating Clemson 17-7. The Bulldogs’ all-time record in the Bowl is 1-2, with losses coming against North Carolina in 1992 and North Carolina State in 1994.

LSU and the Chick-fil-A Bowl

LSU (7-2, 3-2) has appeared in the Chick-fil-A Bowl five times and holds a 5-0 record in those games. The Tigers’ most recent appearance in the Bowl was a 38-3 victory against Georgia Tech in 2008. LSU also played in the 2010 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, defeating North Carolina 30-24.
