The Meridian Community College baseball team continued to add to its impressive signing class for the 2014 season by adding its third player from Clarkdale High School Friday morning. Senior pitcher Jonathan Porter signed his national letter of intent to play next season for the Eagles and he joins fellow teammates Keaton Smith and Chance McDonald who signed with MCC in January.
Porter has helped the Bulldogs to an 11-2 record and is currently one of the top strikeouts pitchers in the state of Mississippi. Porter leads Clarkdale in strikeouts with 65 and is good enough to be ranked among the top five in the state. Porter currently has a 6-0 pitching record and has complied an impressive 0.38 ERA, to go along five complete games and three shutouts.
Porter helped pace the Bulldogs in 2011 to an appearance in the Class 2A South State Championship series.
