East Central Community College will officially unveil its new synthetic turf field during a ribbon-cutting scheduled Monday, August 25, 2015, on the Decatur campus.
The special ceremony begins the annual “Meet the Warriors” Pep Rally/Introduction of Athletes, scheduled at 6:30 p.m. at Bailey Stadium.
ECCC President Dr. Billy Stewart will welcome the anticipated large crowd for the event and provide comments about the new turf. He will also introduce special guests participating in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Performing groups include the Wall O’ Sound Marching Band, Centralettes and the Warrior cheerleading squad.
Hunter Corhern serves as director of bands and Ed Girling is assistant director.
Tina Sanders serves as coordinator/choreographer for the Centralettes, the dance line for the Wall O’ Sound Band.
Pauline Karcher begins her first year as Cheer Coach.
Soccer coaches Gray Massey and Kenneth Thompson will introduce members of their respective Lady Warrior and Warrior squads. Season action begins at 2 p.m. Friday, August 22, at Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit.
Ken Karcher, who begins his second year as Warrior head football coach, will introduce his assistant coaches and team members. He will also recognize captains for the season opener, scheduled at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 28 at Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead.
The public is invited to attend.
