The public is invited to “Meet the Warriors” when East Central Community College hosts the annual pep rally and player introductions event scheduled Wednesday, August 28 on the Decatur campus.
Activities get under way at 6:30 p.m. on the East Mall near Mabry Memorial Cafeteria.
ECCC President Dr. Billy Stewart will provide opening remarks followed by performances from the Wall O’ Sound Marching Band and cheerleading squad.
Members of several athletic teams will be introduced by the respective head coaches. Participating are Ken Karcher (football), Kenneth Thompson (men’s soccer), Gray Massey (women’s soccer), Kristin Chaney (fast-pitch softball), Chris Clark (golf) and Dianne O’Neill and Robert Thompson (tennis).
Cheerleader coach Pam McKnight will introduce members of her squad and Director of Bands Hunter Corhern will recognize the Centralettes, the dance line for the Wall O’ Sound Marching Band. The Centralettes are led by first-year director Tina Sanders.
Activities conclude with performances by the Warrior Cheerleaders, Centralettes and Wall O’ Sound Marching Band.
Soccer season gets under way Thursday, August 22, when the Lady Warriors and Warriors travel to Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Game times are 4 and 6 p.m. on the Wesson campus. The first home matches are scheduled at 3 and 5 p.m. Friday, August 30 with Meridian Community College.
The 2013 football campaign begins Thursday, August 29, when the Warriors journey to Itawamba Community College. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on the Fulton campus. The home opener is scheduled Thursday, Sept. 12 with Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Kickoff for the MACJC South Division opener is set for 6:30 p.m. at Bailey Stadium.
