Five Newton County soccer players signed with Junior Colleges on Thursday in the school's library.

Cesar Diaz and Kellen Clark signed with East Central Community College, while Bryden Reed chose Hinds Community College.

"It's most definitely an honor to play at the next level," said Reed. "It's special for me and my family, because I've been working hard for a long time."

Two girls from Head Coach Ryan Smith's team were among the five signees. Mikayla May signed with East Central while Shelby Dearing signed to play at hinds.

"This year we started out some rankings at 64, and we finished our season ranked number twelve, and that shows you how far [Smith] brought us," said May. "We've become such a close group and I'm really gonna miss the group of girls, because college is going to be a totally new world."
