Former Meridian Wildcat Finishes Second at World Championships

 scottie hearn graduated from meridian high in two-thousand-12 before taking a track scholarship to mississippi state. Just hours ago.... Representing team u-s-a..... Scottie took 2nd place in this years pan-american-world championships in medellin, columbia...In the 400-meter hurdle... This means that... For the junior division...The 19-year-old meridian native is the 2nd best hurdler in the world...  Hearn won his semi-final qualifyer earlier in the day to make the final heat. He took 2nd with a time of 50-point-9-6 seconds. As a wildcat, he won the 6-a state title in the 300-meter-hurdles in his junior and senior years. He schould be back in the u-s to begin his sophomore year of college. On monday. 

 

A recent Meridian High School graduate is one of the world's best hurdlers.

Mississippi State rising sophomore Scottie Hearn finished second in the 400-meter hurdles in the 2013 Pan American World Championships in Medellin, Columbia on Saturday. As a member of Team USA, he won a preliminary qualifier earlier in the day to cement his spot in the evening final where he clocked in at 50.96 seconds.

He is only 19 years old.

Hearn graduated from Meridian High School in 2012, taking a track scholarship to Mississippi State. At Meridian, he won the 6A state title in the 300-meter-hurdles in his junior and senior years.
