The Meridian Community College men’s basketball team announced Thursday afternoon that guard Nick Waters has officially signed a national letter of intent to attend Faulkner University this fall. Waters signed his scholarship with Faulkner University in a ceremony held in the Graham Gymnasium with friends and family in attendance.
Waters averaged 11 points a game and six assists a game for MCC under the direction of first year head coach Cedric Drake. Waters played his high school basketball at Meridian High School and was a member of the 2011 Class 6A State Championship squad under the leadership of head coach Randy Bolden. Waters was a part of the first State Championship team at MHS since 1978 and Waters became the first player that current MCC head coach Cedric Drake has sent to a four-year college since taking over the program last summer.
Faulkner University just completed a very successful 2012-2013 by capturing the Southern States Conference Tournament Championship and advancing to the Sweet 16 of the NAIA Tournament.
